Christmas

The highlight of christmas was seeing my dads face when he saw the present that my mom got him, a new Surly Pugsley!! By far the best present that i have had part in giving to someone.

Thank you Bike Hub for jumping through a few hoops to pull this off!

Training

Not training for racing but training for fire fighting.

Here are some pictures to show the progress of the fire when we let in engulf, (there would be more pics of the whole house on fire but I had to get on the hose with a fog stream to protect the trucks and the people standing around, we think its hot in the summer on a bike, try standing next to this for 30 seconds haha)

Before we let it go we did scenarios where we set a room on fire, let it get going good, then a crew would go in and put it out. We did this until the upper level was about to give out. It is a great opportunity to see what a fire looks like and how it will react so that you can know what to expect in a real fire.

Kinect

My latest training partner. Believe it or not this thing is tough...set it to challenging difficulty and this thing will make you burn. Either that or I'm just weak.

Basement Shop

Getting all of those nice Park Tools at the WORS Banquet inspired me to get a workbench and build a shop in my basement.

WORS Banquet

Had a good time riding with shoe, my dad and Ted Hanes at Standing rocks in the afternoon. Then in the evening we celebrated the end of the WORS season at the banquet.  I didn't get a plaque for 4th place in my age group but I can't complain cause I won this sweet set of Park Tools and a repair stand!

Madison Dual Sport

Keeping things fun in the off season and mixing it up a with a enduro ride in Madison this weekend. 120 miles of single track "hero sections", fields, dirt roads, private property and some black top roads. Its a little different doing 120 miles with a 450 cc engine to help you, but its still alot of work keeping it upright.

The little bit of rain that they got in the morning made everything a muddy mess, which actually made it funner. Power sliding into every corner and roosting the guys behind you isnt something that you really can do on a mountain bike. Flying through the hero sections on a dirt bike at high speeds is pretty similar to a mountain bike except the front brake on a mtb is the clutch and the back brake is the front brake, you get used to it pretty fast.

My Specialized Sworks is going feel even lighter than normal after this ride.

Twin Six obsession?

These are the tags that come on every piece of TWINSIX gear that you can buy. I've been collecting for a while... they make great coasters.

Wors #12 and Season Wrap up

The Wigwam MTB Challenge in Sheboygan Wisconsin was a great weekend, the weather was perfect and my S-Works 29er was ready to race.

The pre ride with the Adventure 212 team was a lot of fun, its really cool to ride the course the day before with the PROS.

The course was is great condition, perfect for railing the corners and getting traction up the Equalizer, which I made all 5 laps.

I went out really fast, almost to fast... I wasn't feeling 100% for this race. Scott Cole (my role model and coach) pushed himself the first lap after having a rough start, and caught up to me. We rode together the next three laps, he wasn't feeling 100 percent either. He said "how are you feeling" me "not good" so he said that we could have fun, ride and enjoy the day. I was thinking to myself this is a FAST ride. It was fun tho!

We eventually got spit up on the fifth lap and I rolled through the finish 1 minute behind him. I was toast...

Although it wasn't my best race as far as placing, it was one of the funnest. Thanks to Scott, Performa and Specialized for all of your help this year.

Blogging...

Ok, so its been awhile since I wrote on here...

So here I go.

The season is almost over and the nickname "Rookie" will soon be gone (i think). Since I haven't blogged all year I will try to wrap it up quick. Biking has gone very good for me this year, moving up to Elite was a huge step and I have exceeded my expectations. As of right now I am sitting in 15th overall, if I have a good result at Sheboygan I should be able to keep my position.

Through all the Mud, heat, cold, rain and everything else that gets thrown at you in a mountain bike race or training ride I have had a great year and look forward to finishing out the season and getting in to off seasons cross training (not cyclecross).

Thanks to all the Performa guys for not using me to the full "Rookie" obligations. I think I got off pretty easy.

WORS #2

Ok I'll give this blogging thing a try.

The Rhinelander Crystal Lake Classic was a great race. The weather was perfect, a lot can change in a week. Last weekend we had snow in the Rasta Rally which was the same course as this weekend.

The course was a little different than a traditional race. It was a 3 ten mile lap course. When Don said GOOOOOO! we went, it was about a 1.5 mile lead out on a gravel road. I had pretty good position exiting the lead out.

I was in good position but went out a little to hard the first lap and had to compose my self so I didn't blow up. So I sat up a little bit to catch my breath, then I caught my wind and started hammering again. I rode hard and caught a few guys, we worked together through out end of the first and the whole second lap. I didn't do to much pulling tho, I was doing all I could just to hang on to there wheels with out getting dropped off the back. Throughout the whole second lap we where moving along good, picking off a few riders here and there.

By the time we got to the long section of gravel on the third lap I was feeling it (not in the good way). I ended up getting dropped from the group I was with on the first long climb. I basically rode the whole third lap by myself, keeping a good pace and making sure that no one was creeping up behind me. I kept my position the whole lap. With about a mile or two to the finish I could feel some cramps coming on. I hung in there finishing 20th overall. I reached both of my goals today, it feels great. Now I need a new goal?

Thank you Performa Cycling and Scott Cole!
